The Philippines runs one of the few 60 Hz networks in our tier-one markets, and that single number decides the transformer before anything else is discussed. A 50 Hz design will not simply run on 60 Hz at rating — impedance, core flux and cooling behaviour all shift — so the unit has to be designed for the frequency from the start. We build 60 Hz distribution transformers and compact substations as standard product lines, not as special orders.
Grid Context and Standards
Transmission is operated by NGCP, with MERALCO as the largest distribution utility in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces, alongside a group of provincial utilities and electric cooperatives. Low-voltage supply is 230/400 V. Most projects are specified to the Philippine Electrical Code with IEC-based equipment data sheets; some industrial owners working with American partners reference ANSI figures, and we can present the test data in either format.
What We Supply
- Compact substations from 100 kVA to 8000 kVA for commercial centres, light industry and solar-powered facilities.
- Dry type transformers up to 6000 kVA for indoor rooms in high-rise and mixed-use buildings.
- Oil-immersed distribution transformers from 250 kVA to 16 MVA for utility and estate networks.
- MV switchgear rated 6 kV to 35 kV, arranged to the single-line diagram your consultant issues.
Conformity, Testing and Shipping
Imported electrical equipment enters under the DTI-BPS regime, and the practical requirement for a project is the PS mark or an ICC certificate covering the shipment. We do not hold these marks as standard; what we do is support them per project — supplying test reports, arranging factory witness testing, and working with the inspection body your importer nominates. Units ship crated and shrink-wrapped for sea freight, quoted FOB, CFR or CIF.
Climate: Typhoon, Salt and Humidity
Coastal sites see salt haze that corrodes standard paint systems within a few years, so outdoor enclosures are specified with an increased anti-corrosion class and stainless fasteners. Typhoon exposure means anchoring points, wind loading and, for compact substations, a roof and door design that stays sealed in driving rain. Indoor units are simpler — ventilation sizing against 40 °C ambient and humidity control in the room are the two points we review with your consultant.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you build 60 Hz transformers as standard?
Yes. 60 Hz distribution transformers and compact substations are standard product lines for us, and the design frequency is confirmed on the drawing before production starts.
Who handles PS/ICC certification?
The importer of record applies; we support the application per project with test reports, factory witness testing and coordination with the nominated inspection body.
What is the lead time?
Standard lead time is 30 days from drawing approval, with a two-year warranty on the equipment.
